The Hardest Job Ever

There has been an article floating around in the internet circles that I frequent that talks about older Mothers telling younger Mothers to "carpe diem."

Seize the day because these babes won't be babes for much longer.

And everyone who voices their opinion is pretty much on the same band wagon - HELL NO! Those older ladies are off their rockers - we don't need to sit around wallowing in the trenches of motherhood because it sucks!

I have mixed feelings about the views of this. I know when I'm done wiping butts, cleaning vomit off the couch, and filling sippy cups...I will miss the simplicity of their needs and will wish for these times back. But at the same time, it is hard to imagine life outside of these little people's demands right now!

That is until I found the statement below:

You’re suffering now because you’re turning into a new woman, a woman who is never allowed to be alone. For what? Only so that you can become strong enough to be a woman who will be left.

Half

Happy Half Birthday to my Summer Babe!

He chose to share juice boxes and m&m cookies with his friends. I cannot believe that he is 3 and a half already...time is flying!

A New Year

I found an idea on Pinterest (surprise!) to start a journal for embracing the healthy lifestyle that I strive for. I took a simple composition book and went all teenager on it...and decorated the cover!
Ever since I started doing Weight Watchers in 2007, I have always written down my food intake to keep track of points. I've journaled in everything from the 3-month journal sold by WW, to the free ones on the counter at weigh-ins, to scrap pieces of paper I find on my cluttered counter.

Today is Day 3 of my new journal system..and so far I love it! I have a tab for each week and in that week I have a section for my daily food intake and exercise. I am also jotting down notes about what I'm eating, how it makes me feel, why I'm eating when I'm eating. I wrote down for today's lunch that I was super happy with my food choices, I felt full after eating, and was generally in a good mood! I also did some pre-journaling for the day and wrote down what I'm eating for dinner. Now I can successfully plan the rest of my day snack-wise and stay right where I need to be since my back is still bothering me and I know I won't be doing any exercise for the day.

I also jotted down some overall goals for the year. I'd like to get back to my lifetime goal for Weight Watchers (which means no more money spent on my monthly meeting pass!), run a 5k race that I've not run before (any suggestions?), and I'd like to take a swim class.

Looking forward to the year!
