Fun With Marshmallows

Kelsey and I made cookies today after nap (Colin was snoozing), as we are participating in a cookie exchange tomorrow with some of our MOMS Club friends. After days of debating on what kind of cookies to make, I finally settled on s'mores thumbprint cookies.

A little bit of a back story real quick...

Kelsey and I were sitting in Great Clips a few weeks ago, waiting on Daddy to get his haircut, and this little boy showed Kelsey a magic trick. She's been obsessed with repeating this magic trick ever since. The boy "huffed" on a quarter and then stuck it to his forehead, telling Kelsey that his quarter was magical!

Anyhow, when my sister and I were young, we used to lick marshmallows and stick them to our faces. This afternoon I told Kelsey we had MAGIC marshmallows and we stuck them to our faces. Here are her results!

She was afraid to let her hands down, she didn't want them to fall off!

This picture also reminds me of Greg and I as little kids. We each had Austrailian Shepard (a breed of dog) growing up. We each would get our dogs to balance treats on their noses until we told them they could eat it by flipping it into the air. It's sad that I'm sort of comparing my child to my childhood dog!
While I was cleaning up our dirty baking dishes, Kelsey asked for a washcloth to clean up her face, which was covered with chocolate. I got busy doing something else (imagine that!) and could hear her singing a song while she was scrubbing on the floor. Apparently we let her watch "Cinderella" a bit too much...she was singing "ooooh sweet nightingale..." Then she came into the living room and said "Momma, that dammit cat got my floor all dirty! She got her feets in my dust pan and made the floor all dirty!"

Our Little Beauty

Chilly!

In the lovely Mitten State of Michigan, it is starting to get chilly! Kelsey has been obsessed with wearing her coat and dressing warm. Today she was digging around looking for a "snow hat." All of her hats are too small this season, so here is what I came up with from my stash of yarn and knitting needles!

And here is our Super Baby for good measure! He rolled over from belly to back on Wednesday...such a strong little baby!

Everyone says Colin looks exactly like Greg...what do you think?

Is It Winter Yet?

In Kelsey's closet, towards the back, I hang up the clothing that we get as gifts that are too big or not appropriate for the current season. She has all these clothes from Aunt Wendy and Grandma Pattison that she's been ITCHING to wear...specifically the dress below. I usually tell her, "we can't wear those clothes until it is winter, when we have snow on the ground." I finally gave in since it has been a bit chilly here in the mornings and I'm tired of her asking "is it winter time yet?". We still need to get some tights and shoes to go with the dress, but she loves it! She already loaded up the purse with her "personal belongings" and told me she was ready to go.

Right after we took this picture, she pulled her cell phone out of her purse and told me she had to call Grandpa Pattison and tell him thank you for the boo-ti-full dress!

In other news, we took Colin to the doctor yesterday for his two month check-up and he is doing great! He is 24" long...our little string bean...and weighs 12.2 lbs. He is very strong for his age and showed off for Dr. Macedo (Dr. Mosquito as Kelsey calls him) by holding his head up while on his tummy and looking around.

Another Happy Day!

A day late, a dollar short...Happy Two Months (yesterday) to Colin! He was really turning on the charm for Daddy tonight while he had the camera out. He is all smiles these days and a little ray of sunshine. He is quite the mover too! Greg just commented tonight that Colin should be rolling over any day now.

As for Kelsey, we are deep in the trenches of potty training. Holy smokes is training a two and half year old to use the potty HARD! It seems like every five minutes we are saying, "Kelsey, do you have to pee? Poop? Don't get pee on your pretty dress!" No accidents today though. And I think the dum dum lollipops we have been using as a reward have lost their appeal. Any suggestions in this area of our parenting adventure would be gladly welcomed!
